As one of the three sites of the NCGIA consortium, SUNY Buffalo will participate in the project in two ways - as a research partner, and as a potential university library test site. Research at Buffalo will be supported by augmenting the subcontract that currently exists between UCSB and Buffalo under the NCGIA Cooperative Agreement with NSF. Research at the Buffalo site will focus on assessment of user requirements, evaluation of alternative user interface solutions, and development of tools for map indexing and tiling. We anticipate that some of the meetings of the Design Review Team or Board might be held at Buffalo, and that Buffalo might host one or more of the specialist workshops organized under the project.
