Year IV

• Report of national meeting written and disseminated. Placement of testbed on-line. Put testbed out on Internet as Z39.50-compliant database.

• Internal Testing and Evaluation of fully evolved testbed. Testing and evaluation by an external review board with the representation from user communities, libraries, and computer science community.

• Integration of the catalogue system components. Investigate research issues related to group interactions to a digital library. Integrate the various image analysis tools into the khoros environment. Integrate indexing with user interfaces to support dynamic indexing.

• Summarize the results, and propose and evaluate models of future digital library systems.

• Generalize the results obtained in Year III to other digital data sets of interest to the scientific community. Summarize the results of the experiments, and propose new areas for further research.

• Analyze completed system to validate the system model. Extend the system model to include future display technologies including virtual reality devices and HDTV.

• Apply the knowledge gained prospectively to the technology developed under this project. Facilitate expanded use of the system by other than those involved in its development through the use of the alternative incentives, policy approaches, and legal arrangements investigated.
