Artist Bio

LISA BRENNEIS' wide-ranging production credits in interactive digital media include everything from Nintendo games to museum exhibits. She was a founding member of the Los Angeles - based group IEX. IEX was conceived as a forum; a meeting place for people to exchange ideas about the expressive principles underlying interactive media. Lisa's involvement in IEX set her on the path of inquiry into the roots of narrativity, and the phenomenology of the story. Her writing, teaching, and panel appearances grew out of the work that started in IEX. She has appeared in person as an instructor, lecturer or performer at the American Film Institute, Cal Arts, UCLA, Banff Center for the Arts, and the Digital Storytelling Conference, and as a small avatar in Desktop Theater performances around the globe.

A special live performance by Jennik and Brenneis, "A bag full of Cats: interfaces with the parallel universe," took place at the Beall Center at 8 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 17, as part of the exhibition's  opening celebrations.
