National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis

Each of the three participating sites of NCGIA will provide access to their facilities for the duration of the project. At Santa Barbara, these include working space for up to 12 research staff, equipped with a network of IBM RISC workstations; a RISC teaching laboratory; and adminstrative and system support staff. Broadly similar facilities exist at both SUNY Buffalo and the University of Maine. NCGIA's Publication Office will provide an established means of distributing selected Alexandria technical publications, both in hard copy and electronically, and the NCGIA Newsletter will provide an existing mechanism for project outreach to the user community. NCGIA's Visiting Scholars Program may be used as a way of bringing researchers outside the Alexandria consortium to participate in its research for extended periods.
