We do not expect to support optical media in the storage component. For both secondary and tertiary storage applications, the cost-per-byte of optical storage exceeds (often dramatically) that of the corresponding magnetic media (disks or tapes), without a corresponding increase in performance. (The ingest component will, of course, have the ability to read CD-ROMs.)
