Graduate Students Associated with the Project

  1. Rong Hua, Computer Science Master's level student, left the project at the end of November and was not replaced.

  2. Chen Ding, a CS graduate student, was hired by the Systems Engineering team for the summer months.

  3. Two CS graduate students, Steve Geffner and Mike Horhammer, were hired by the Information Systems team as research assistants for the ALASKA project. The team also re-hired a graduate student in Statistics - Peter Karcher - to examine the potential of Bayesian networks as a technology to support intelligent help desks for ADL.

  4. Athanassios Poulakidas, Computer Science Ph.D. student, graduated and left the project in July 1997 for Greece.

  5. Dan Andresen, Computer Science Ph.D. student, graduated and left the project in 1997. Dan is now an Assistant Professor at Kansas State University.

  6. Wei-Ying Ma, Electrical and Computer Engineering Ph.D. student, graduated and left the project in June 1997. Wei is now at HP Labs.

  7. Yining Deng replaced Wei as a research assistant for the Image Processing team.

  8. Norbert Strobel, Electrical and Computer Engineering Ph.D. student, graduated and left the project in March 1998 for Germany.

  9. Randy Kemp who was working on collection development for ADL left the project for graduate school in Colorado.

  10. Ravikanth Kothuri, Computer Science Ph.D. student graduated and joined Oracle Corporation as a member of the New England Development Center in Nashua, NH.

  11. Sunil Prabhakar, Computer Science Ph.D. student graduated and will be joining the department of Computer Science at Purdue University as an Assistant Professor beginning Fall 98. He continues with ADL in the interim.
