Information Systems Team
Interoperability and distributed processing:
The team has written and developed Java program objects
to read Aerial photographs stored as TIFF files in the
Alexandria collection. These Java programs are able to
read, display, and resize archive images.
Materialized Views:
The team implemented the proposed materialized views
in the ADL web prototype system. A
translation module has been built to analyze and translate
user queries to equivalent ones that use the materialized views.
The module was demonstrated during the site visit. In addition to
improvement in performance of earlier queries, some queries that were
not handled by the earlier database due to the unreasonable response
time can now be issued. The answers are returned within a few
seconds or a few minutes at the most. This supports the
possibility of making a fully populated ADL operational.
Parallel Processing Team
The Performance and Parallel Processing team have interacted with the
ADL testbed developers in installing and running the ADL server on
their workstation cluster, and collecting test trace data based on
the ADL web server.
They have given their wavelet subregion browsing C code to the
testbed developers who have incorporated it in their system.
They are in the process of completing the documents for
their new Java codes for image browsing and will make it available
this quarter or next.
Image Processing Team
The image segmentation routines developed have been incorporated into
the Alexandria Testbed.
The team's image pattern matching search method is demonstrated
via a set of Java applets integrated into the current version
of the ADL testbed demo version.
